Praetor Installation Checklist

STEP 1

WHAT TYPE OF MACHINE IS REQUIRED TO RUN PRAETOR?

 

These recommendations* are suggested for Praetor's optimal performance assuming a daily received message volume of 50 per user per day.  Focus on the received message volume which may be more indicative of a site's size than the number of users.

Praetor will function on a lesser machine but delivery may be slowed down a few seconds.

STEP 2

WHAT MICROSOFT COMPONENTS MUST BE RUNNING BEFORE INSTALLING PRAETOR?

 

These Microsoft components must running on the same machine where Praetor will be installed.

Windows 2000 or 2003 Server, Windows 2000 or XP Professional Edition.  Exchange Server v5.5 requires a separate Praetor machine.

STEP 3

PRAETOR AUTOMATICALLY INSTALLS WHAT OTHER MICROSOFT COMPONENTS?

Praetor's installation process checks for the presence of these other required Microsoft components. 

If not found, Praetor automatically downloads these from Microsoft.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or later

Special considerations for Windows 2003

CMS Praetor Green Square

Windows 2003 OS already has "ASP.NET".  Read "ASPNET in Windows 2003 Server" to confirm that the configuration is complete.

Microsoft SQL Server or Desktop Edition (MSDE)

To manually install these Microsoft components:
If it's not desirable to let the Praetor Installer automatically download and install these Microsoft components, this can be done manually.

SET UP MSDE for Praetor

CMS Praetor Item Mark Black Dot DOWNLOAD and install Microsoft .NET Framework.  This is already present on Windows 2003, but verify the configuration.

STEP 4

INSTALLING PRAETOR

 
Only after the required Microsoft components are running, can the Praetor software be installed.
