I installed Praetor v1.5 on an old, under-powered machine and it ran fine.  Why must Praetor G2 be installed on a more powerful machine?
Praetor G2 uses Bayesian filtering as its main tool main tool to combat increasingly sophisticated spamming techniques.  This requires a lot of number-crunching and frequent access to a SQL token database.  For this reason CMS recommends the use of a current generation machine.   This will likely have the following improvements over your old Praetor v1.5 machine:

Faster CPU with higher operational speed in GHz instead of MHz and larger L2 cache
Faster memory bus with speeds of 400+ MHz instead of 133 MHz
Faster hard disk access due to higher rotational speeds of 7200 rpm instead of 4200 rpm or slower

All these attributes will combine to make your Praetor G2 machine capable of using the Bayesian filter against the ever-increasing spam volume, while an older generation machine will likely get overwhelmed.
