1) |
Download XE-Filter.
|

2) |
Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP file
into a temporary folder on your local drive.
|
|
Do not run the XE-Filter Set-Up from within the ZIP file. |
|

Do not
put
the contents of the zip on a shared
network drive. |
|
|
3) |
Stop IIS or the Exchange SMTP Service with their
respective administration programs. |
|
4) |
Confirm in Control Panel Services the the SMTP server
has been stopped. If not, then repeat Step 3.
|
|
This step is very important. Do not continue with the
XE-Filter upgrade until the SMTP server is stopped.
Failure to do this will result in an improper installation
of critical files.

|
|
5) |
Backup the following files: Bannedcc.xml,
connectionLOG.xml, whitelist.xml, blacklist.xml,
senderWL.xml, senderBL.xml
and xefilterman.exe.config |
|
6) |
On the machine itself, without using any remote
control product, run SETUP.EXE from the temporary folder containing the
extracted contents of the downloaded XE-Filter Zip
file.

|
Do not use remote control products (ex. Windows Remote Desktop) to upgrade
XE-Filter, a 1720
error will occur. |

|
7) |
Restart the IIS or Exchange SMTP Server with their
respective administration programs. On some
machines the Windows OS may ask that you allow a
reboot. |
