How does Praetor handle outbound scanning (the same or differently from inbound scanning)?

When an outbound message from the local mail server is received by the Windows SMTP Service, Praetor is called to analyze the message.

STEP 1

Praetor creates a temporary message file in the working OUT folder, determines the message direction and filters according to the outbound rules. One of three possible mandatory actions will occur, depending on the rules you have in effect:

Reject

Praetor deletes the message file

Quarantine

The message is moved into the Praetor\Quar folder

Accept

Praetor notifies the Windows SMTP Server to deliver the message

STEP 2

Windows SMTP Service transmits the message to its destination on the Internet.
