Expiration of the 21-day evaluation

When the evaluation period has expired, launching the Praetor administration MMC snap-in will display the following screen.

While you can press and still use the administration program, all messages will not be filtered by Praetor even though it is enabled.  You will find current event message entries that appear as follows.

As you can infer from this log display, Praetor does not analyze the messages so information about the sender or intended recipient is not available.  The messages will simply be delivered without any filtering being performed.

Note:

There will be no way to reclaim the summary information on these messages even after you have upgraded Praetor to a fully licensed version as discussed below.   Those messages have been delivered to their intended recipients.

Upgrading the evaluation version

Upgrading from the timed evaluation to a full product version is a simple one that can be performed onto the installed Praetor by following these steps.

1.

Right-mouse click on the main Praetor node in the left pane and view the Properties page.

2.

Change to the License tab and you will find the button.

3.

Press the button and the Register CMS Praetor window appears.

Enter the serial number and authorization code obtained from the CMS Sales department.

4.

Press and you will be returned to the View License Information screen on the License tab.

Once Praetor is registered with a valid serial number and matching authentication code, it will no longer have the 21-day expiration.  In the above case where expiration has already occurred, your registration will take effect automatically within the next 15 minutes.

You can also manually force the immediate re-activation of Praetor by:

  1. Resetting IIS at a command prompt by issuing the command

    IISRESET

  2. Restarting the SMTP server at a command prompt with the command

    NET START SMTPSVC
